Jeanne Gray Williams

May 29, 1943 — April 8, 2017

Jeanne was born May 29, 1943 in Portales, NM to Cleburne and Elneita Gray. She graduated from Muleshoe High School in 1961, where she played the clarinet in the band. She married Jesse Williams on June 10, 1961. Jeanne worked for AISD for over ten years before moving to Lubbock, where she worked for the John T. Montford Unit for several years. She moved back to Amarillo in 1999. Jeanne was always a talented seamstress. She did side work as a seamstress throughout most of her adult life. Many years ago, she did costuming for Amarillo Little Theatre. She also worked with the Viking Sewing Gallery in JoAnne's Fabrics. She loved the outdoors and enjoyed gardening. Jeanne had a beautiful voice and loved to sing. Her favorite role was as a grandmother. She doted on her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Survivors include a son, Don Williams and wife Becky of Jefferson City; two daughters, Cathi Nichols and husband Gregg, and Robin Johnson and husband Michael all of Amarillo; a sister, Kathryn Hartsell and husband Larry of Ardmore, OK; a brother, John Gray and partner Ron Nance of Lubbock; 12 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a son, Grady Williams in 2012; and her husband Jesse Williams in 2016.
