Jean Marie Cardwell Vieira received a promotion to her permanent home in Heaven on October 2, 2019. Jean was 71 and living in Amarillo, Texas at the time of her promotion. All of her remaining family and friends rejoice with her at her promotion but we all will miss that beautiful smile and sweet personality.
Jean was born in Leonard, Texas on April 1, 1948 to Hall Clifton Cardwell and Bertha Irene Bench Cardwell. She graduated from Sudan Texas High School in May, 1966 and then attended Texas Tech University as a pre-nursing student. Jean joined the United States Army and served as a Medical Corpsman from 1967 through 1970 during the Viet Nam Era.
Jean left the medical area and became a 911 Operator for the City of Greenville, Texas. She was very compassionate and caring and these wonderful traits made her an excellent emergency operator. She worked for the City of Greenville for twenty years and retired in May of 2004.
Jean is survived by, the greatest joy in her life, her daughter Irene Mae (Renie) Vieira and Husband Matt Bates of Colorado Springs, Colorado; sisters Hallie Fish and husband Ernest of Lubbock, Texas; Grace Lee McCormick of Amarillo, Texas, brothers Bobby D. Cardwell and wife Kay of Ft. Stockton, Texas, Hal C. Cardwell Jr. and wife Dawn of Greenville, Texas; sisters-in-law Margaret Cardwell of Sudan, Texas, Sue Cardwell of Clovis, New Mexico; and numerous, much loved nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents, sister Barbara A. Sampson, brothers Jerry M. Cardwell and Glen D. Cardwell.
A celebration of life service will be held at a later date. The Family suggests donations to The American Cancer Society or Your Local Humane Society instead of flowers.
