She began her teaching career at Will Rogers Elementary School in Amarillo, Texas in 2011 as a first grade teacher and taught at Will Rogers Elementary until the time of her death.
She married Harley Ryan Day of Turpin, Oklahoma on October 19, 2013 at Polk Street Methodist Church in Amarillo, Texas. Together they welcomed their first child, Avery Claire, on May 28, 2015 and their second, Harley Samuel, on July 1, 2019.
She passed away at her home in Amarillo, Texas. She was comfortable and at peace, surrounded by family and friends.
Jennifer’s friends and family would describe her as invariably strong, fiercely competitive, and undeniably stubborn. But above all, in every way, in all things, she was unfailingly kind. She had one of the sweetest hearts imaginable. She showed unparalleled love to her kids, family, friends, and students.
Jennifer was diagnosed with cancer in September of 2015, which she received surgery and treatment for. She had a recurrence in August of 2019, followed by surgery and treatment.
In Jenn’s own words “My story isn’t just that I had cancer. I have a beautiful life story and it includes way more than cancer. Cancer doesn’t win this round, because even if it takes me, I put up one heck of a fight. My family, friends, and God gave me a greater strength that I could have ever imagined.”
She is survived by her husband, Harley Ryan Day; daughter, Avery Day, son, Harley Samuel Day; father and mother, Pete and Kathy Peterson; brother, Justin; grandmother, Ina Chandler; along with many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins.
