Jerry Wayne Cooper

Jerry Wayne Cooper, of Amarillo, entered into heaven on August 16th, 2024, at the age of 81.

Visitation will be held Wednesday, August 21st, 2024, from 5:00pm to 7:00pm at Cox-Rowley Funeral Home, 4180 Canyon Dr. Amarillo, Texas. Funeral Services will be held Thursday, August 22nd, 2024, at 10:00am at Valleyview Church of the Nazarene, 7601 S. Western St. Amarillo, Texas.

Jerry was born, in Clayton, New Mexico, on February 25th, 1943, to John and Captola Cooper. He lived a life devoted to his family and faith. He graduated from Palo Duro High School, in Amarillo, Texas, in 1961. He worked for Maywood from 1966-1994 and Walmart from 1986-2015. He married the love of his life, Susan on February 9th, 1985.

Jerry had a lot of favorite hobbies. He loved to read Old Westerns. John Wayne was his favorite. His favorite singer was Elvis Presley. His favorite Football team was the Dallas Cowboys. He followed them from the beginning. Loved Eagles, and now he is soaring high on Eagle wings. He loved animals. Most of all, he loved his family immensely. He loved his wife, Susan Cooper, more than life itself. He never could tell her no. He definitely spoiled her.

Jerry was a beloved husband, father, and pepaw. He believed in all of us and always told us all to chase our dreams. All of us kids always had a cheerleader in him. He attended every one of our school events and sports activities. He was one that cheered the loudest for us.

He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Captola Cooper, a brother Larry Cooper, a son Brad Southerland; and a grandson Austin Lard.

Jerry is survived by his loving wife, Susan Cooper, a son Jeremy Cooper of the home. A daughter, Deana, and husband Darren Lard, of Amarillo,Texas. A daughter Amber, and husband Nathaniel Stephenson, of Norman, Oklahoma. A Granddaughter, Brooke Lard and Grandsons Maverick Stephenson, Archie Lard, Zeke Stephenson, and Ezra Stephenson. Great Granddaughters Addilyn Dillon and Sherrie Morgan. Several Nieces and Cousins.
