Jerry Snyder, 81, of Amarillo, passed into the arms of Jesus on Monday, March 31, 2025. Funeral services will be 11:00 AM Thursday, April 3, 2025, at First Baptist Church, Sanctuary, 1208 S. Tyler Street, with Dr. Howard Batson officiating. Private burial will take place at Llano Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Wednesday from 5:00 to 7:00 PM at the funeral home. Arrangements are under the direction of Cox-Rowley Funeral Home.
Jerry was born on March 4, 1944, in Groom to R.A. and Joy Snyder. He graduated from Groom High School, class of 1962. Jerry was a proud veteran, and served in the United States Army during the Vietnam war. On April 2, 1976, Jerry married his sweetheart, Carolyn Alexander; together they have celebrated 48 years and 363 days of marriage. Jerry was an accomplished salesman, working for many years at John Chandler Ford, where he was a good and honest salesman. Following retirement, Jerry was a permanent substitute teacher for Palo Duro High School.
Jerry enjoyed drawing, fishing, and spending time with his family. Most years he would take his family to Vallecito Lake, where many unforgotten memories were made. He was an avid golfer and put much of his spare time into the sport. Jerry enjoyed teaching his children how to golf and perfecting his game any chance he could. He was known as “Poppy” to his grandchildren, cherishing each spare moment he could with them.
Jerry was preceded in death by his parents, R.A. and Joy Snyder; one daughter, Kimberly Alexander; and one son, Eric Snyder.
Those left to cherish his memory are his wife, Carolyn Snyder, of the home; his son, Marc and Tonya Alexander of Bushland; his daughter, Hallie Snyder of Austin; three grandchildren, Sarah and Josh Terbush of Weatherford, Kylie and Landon Warren of Burleson, and Cole Alexander of Amarillo; four great-grandchildren, Averie Terbush, Luke Terbush, Levi Terbush, and Emerson Gray Warren; one sister, Nina Richey and husband Truman of San Angelo; a host of nieces, nephews, and extended family members.
