Jewell Dean "Jerry" Strader

Jewell Dean “Jerry” Strader, 88, of Amarillo, passed away on Thursday, January 14, 2021. Graveside services will be 2:00 PM Tuesday at Memorial Park Cemetery in the East Mausoleum Chapel, 6969 East I-40. The family will receive friends from 5:00 – 6:00 PM Monday at Cox-Rowley Funeral Home, 4180 Canyon Drive. Jewell Dean was born March 10, 1932 in Chelsea, Oklahoma to Clyde and Nettie Keys. She married Bob Strader on February 25, 1949 in El Paso. The couple lived in El Paso for a few years before moving to Amarillo. Jewell Dean was a beautician, and owned and operated Jerry’s Beauty Shop for 35 years. She was formerly an active member of Avondale Baptist Church. In her spare time, she enjoyed gardening, both food and flowers. She did a lot of home canning. Jewell Dean loved spending time with her grandkids. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Bob Strader; and three sisters, Jessie Lenora Branch, Virginia Ornder, and Darlene Swift. Survivors include a daughter, Tricia Strader of Amarillo; a son, Robert Strader of Amarillo; seven grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren. The family suggests memorials may be made to Cal Farley’s Boys Ranch, 600 SW 11th Ave. Amarillo, TX 79101.
