Jim R. Kingston, 80, passed away on Thursday, August 8, 2024. Funeral services will be 2:00 PM Saturday, August 10, 2024 at Washington Ave. Christian Church, 3800 S. Washington St., with Justin English officiating. Burial will take place at McLean Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5:00 - 7:00 PM Friday at Cox-Rowley Funeral Home, 4180 Canyon Drive.
Jim was born July 29, 1944 in McLean, Texas to Bill and Geneva Kingston. He graduated from McLean High School and went on to study at Clarendon College and West Texas State University. Jim proudly served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam Era, having been stationed in France and Germany. He married his sweetheart, Minnie Carey on January 22, 1966 in Shamrock.
Jim worked as a highway patrolman for Texas DPS for over 18 years. He went on to work for Pantex and T-Miller Wrecker Service, retiring in 2000. In his spare time, Jim enjoyed going to the ranch and especially spending time with his grandkids. Jim was a true family man and was so proud of both of his kids. He had an incredibly outgoing personality and never had trouble remembering someone’s name after he met them one time. He was tough, but was a good man with a very kind heart. He always made himself available to help someone who needed anything. Jim had a heart for leading young people in the direction they should go. He always fought for the underdog. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and a brother, Bill Kingston, Jr.
Survivors include his wife of 58 years, Minnie Kingston; a daughter, Misti English and husband Wesley of Tuscola, TX; a son, Jim “Tige” Kingston and wife Tashell of Amarillo; a sister, Judy Wood and husband Gary of Pampa; three children by love, Brent Gibbs, Katie Gasca and Laura Daugherty; four grandchildren, Christopher English, Justin English and wife Amanda, Brooke Patterson and husband Quinton, and Coltin Kingston and wife Kaylee; and eight great-grandchildren, DJ, Addalyn, Bella, Laila, Easton, Aiden, Braylee and Creed.
