Jimmie Everett Gresham

Amarillo

Jimmie E. “Jim” Gresham entered the gates of heaven on March 7, 2026 ready to start his new life in eternity healed and whole.

Please join family and friends for a time of celebration on his 90th birthday to share your own experience at 2:00 PM Thursday March 12, 2026 at Cox-Rowley Funeral Home, 4180 Canyon Drive. Jim was not a traditional man so the service will be non-traditional. It will be a time of sharing stories and anecdotes led by Pastor Lesly Broadbent and two of Jim’s nephews, Dickie McCurdy and Mickey McCurdy.

Jim lived the kind of life that proves you don’t need fancy things when you know how to build them yourself.

Born March 12, 1936, Jim spent nearly 90 years doing what he did best: working hard, fixing what was broken, and rarely sitting still long enough for anyone to wonder what he’d build next.

If something needed repairing, Jim could fix it. If it couldn’t be fixed, he’d figure out a way anyway. Over the years he owned his own heating and air conditioning business, but that was just the beginning. In his spare time—though he didn’t really believe in spare time—he made extra cash buying broken things, bringing them back to life, and sending them off to new homes.

Jim was famously frugal, the kind of man who saw possibility where others saw junk. To him, a pile of parts was simply a problem waiting to be solved and project waiting to happen.

The outdoors always called his name, and sitting still was never really his style. When he wanted something, he didn’t just buy it—he built it. Over the years he built his own houses, a pontoon boat, a hovercraft and rebuilt a Model T – the “T-Bucket”, proving more than once that determination, ingenuity and a good set of tools could accomplish just about anything. But more important than the things he built was the reputation he built. Jim was known as an honest man—someone people trusted, respected, and admired. If Jim committed to something, you could count on it. He was a man of his word!

While he may have finally set down his tools, it’s safe to assume Jim has already found something in heaven that needs fixing.

He leaves behind family, friends, and plenty of stories about the man who could repair almost anything and believed hard work was simply the way life should be lived.

He is survived by his wife, Rosemary, who he married on March 4, 1967. They combined two families including five children from ages 4 to 9 years old. He is also survived by his children; Jackie “JR” Gresham and his wife Lucinda, Kyle Gresham, Patty Garrett and her husband Kenny, and Cari Good; 7 grandchildren; Gregory, Jeffry, Kyla, Weston, Calvin, Miranda, Brook; his sisters Charlene Bouldin and Darlene Osborne; and his brother Rodney Gresham and his wife Janice. Survivors also include a host of other family members and dear friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; three sisters Doris, Jean and Janet; his brother Clark; his first wife Lola Mae, the mother of his children; his son Scott and his son-in-law Mike Good.

At his request, Jim will be cremated and his cremains will be interred at Polk Street Methodist Church next to his son-in-law, Mike Good.
