Jimmy Dalton Ellis, 89, of Amarillo, TX passed away peacefully surrounded by family on July 21, 2022, in Amarillo, TX.  Services will be at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, July 25, 2022, at Memorial Park Cemetery, East Mausoleum Chapel in Amarillo, TX.  Visitation will be Sunday, July 24, 2022, at Cox-Rowley Funeral Home in Amarillo, TX from 3:00 p.m. – 5:00 p.m..  Arrangements are by Cox-Rowley Funeral Home in Amarillo, TX.

Jimmy was born on September 30, 1932, in Lakeview, TX to R.C. and Pauline Ellis.  He was raised in Amarillo, TX and graduated from Amarillo High School in 1952. Jimmy served in the National Guard and the United States Army for 8 years. While serving, Jimmy received a National Defense Service medal.

Jimmy and Bettye were married on April 25, 1975. Jimmy is a member of Hillside Christian Church.

Jimmy owned and operated Ellis Construction Co., Inc. for over 35 years.  He was a member of the Texas Panhandle Builders Association and served on the board of directors.

Surviving members of his family include his wife Bettye Sue Ellis of Amarillo, TX; sisters, Kathryn Dewbre  of Ft. Sumner, NM and Sandy Baskin and husband, Sam of Granbury, TX; sister-in-law, LaRue Weige and husband Alfred of Lubbock, TX. two daughters; Debbie Williams and Melanie Allen and husband Cy of Amarillo, TX; two step-daughters; Lori Ansohn and husband John of Ft. Worth, TX and D’Ann Allen and husband Doug of Amarillo, TX; a step-son, Wyatt Woods of Ft. Worth, TX; his wonderful grandchildren: Shannon Williams (Lizzie), Stephanie Lee (Justin Melton), Rebekah Miller (Jason); Joey Addison (Nicole), Talena Allen (Nick); RheaAnne Seets (Colby Burnett), Chris Seets, Ty Ansohn, Katie Schulte (Jairus); Makinsey Cockrell (Taylor), Madison Plumley (Jonathan), Grant Allen; Sydney Flynn (Kyle), Lacey Woods; and a legacy of 27 great-grandchildren with another arriving in August and 5 great great-grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by his parents; R.C. Ellis and Pauline, Brother-in-law, Jerry Dewbre, Son-in-law, Bill Williams and Grandson, Brent Addison.
