Jimmy Lee King

June 5, 1947 — June 6, 2017

Jim was born on June 5, 1947. He proudly enlisted in the United States Army, serving with the Green Berets in the Screaming Eagle 101 Airborne, 5th Special Forces Division. He served in Vietnam, where he received multiple Purple Heart Medals. Jim settled in Amarillo, where he worked for the Veteran's Hospital in maintenance for over 15 years until his retirement. Above all, Jim was a devoted husband and loved his Lord. He is survived by his wife, Rhenea King; brother, Robert Joe King and wife Wanda; 3 sisters, Shirley Watson and husband Billy and Darlene Christianson, all of Amarillo and Susan Morris of Houston; 3 step children, Crystal Gamble and husband Michael of Canyon, Greg Ballard and wife Desiree of Prosper and Lisa Vega and husband Julio of Amarillo; 8 grandchildren, Erica Marry, Ashley and Devin Calhoun, Dusty and Chance Gamble, Cale and Nathan Ballard, Mattie and Camille Vega and 6 great grandchildren.
