Jimmy Jay Rigdon was born in Amarillo on June 26, 1937, to Thomas Richardson Rigdon and Nellie Fay Rigdon. Jimmy passed away on June 28, 2025, at the age of 88. A graveside service is planned for October 3, 2025, at the Flint Creek Cemetery in The Grove, Texas.
Jimmy spent all of his life in the construction industry, learning the trade from his father and working alongside his brothers in the field. He spent years as a construction superintendent with several large construction firms in Texas and in Idaho. He had a life-long membership in the Carpenters Union. Jimmy took pride in his work whether it was remodeling his own home, building a post office, or working on a local hospital. He also loved doing projects on his son-in-law and daughter’s home in Pendaries, New Mexico.
Jimmy loved to talk about hunting rabbits out in the Medi-Park area WAY before anything else was out there. He loved to fish and hunt.
Jimmy married Tommy Jo Wright on December 23, 1966, and they were married until her passing in 2006.
Jimmy was preceded in death by a sister, Fay Elrod, a sister, Billie Lamb, a brother, Sammy Lee Rigdon, a sister-in-law, Mary Rigdon, a sister-in-law, Audrey Rigdon, a sister-in-law, Ann Rigdon, a daughter, DeAnne White, and a son, Gary Wright.
Jimmy is survived by two brothers, Jack Rigdon and Ronnie Rigdon; a sister-in-law, Debbie Rigdon; a son-in-law, Larry White and wife Crystal, a daughter-in law, Nickie Wright; four grandchildren, Kelli Beck and husband Barry, Ross White and wife Molly, Jayne Lawing and husband Mike, and Wayne Mott; and his nieces, nephews, and great-grandchildren.
