Jo Ann was born January 2, 1947 in Wheeler to Wayne and Lenos Meadows. She graduated from Palo Duro High School in "the best class alive, the class of '65". She earned her bachelor degree in education from WTSU in only three years. She married Daryl "Fuzzy" Lewis in Amarillo on April 9, 1976. Jo Ann taught Language Arts and ESL at Travis Middle School for 24 years, retiring in 2015. She taught four years prior to that as well. She was a counselor at heart and would help you through any hardship or struggle. Jo Ann loved her children and grandchildren with all her heart and soul, and she enjoyed every moment with them that she could. As for her students and her "kids", she would want you to know that she loved you and that she was proud of you. She wanted you all to succeed! Please remember what she taught you and make it a part of your lives so that her love, encouragement, and passion will continue to live on. She will be greatly missed, especially her loving smile and laughter.
Survivors include her husband, Daryl; four daughters, Marci Chapman and husband Gary, and their child, Marshall of Lubbock, Jana Smith and husband Roger, and their children Braden, Jenson, and Alayna of Spokane, WA, Casey Schaef and husband Shane and their children, Addison and Anslee, and Kari Neeley and husband James, and their children Adam and Kenzi all of Amarillo; one sister, Sandy Powell and husband Dick of Coeur d' Alene, ID; and a host of extended family and dear friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
