Joe was born on September 26, 1930, in Hereford, Texas, to Thomas and Willie Perdue. He grew up in the Texas Panhandle, graduating from Amarillo High School and attending Amarillo College. On November 5, 1948, Joe married the love of his life, Barbara Bell, at United Methodist Church in Amarillo. Together, they built a beautiful life, raising five children and sharing 62 wonderful years of marriage before Barbara’s passing.
Joe began his long and dedicated career at Pantex, starting on the line and worked his way up through many different roles, eventually becoming a roofing supervisor. He gave over 40 years of service to the company. He was known for his work ethic, leadership, and integrity. Upon retirement, Joe and Barbara hit the road in their RV, traveling across the United States. These adventures were filled with joy, discovery, and purpose. Joe found fulfillment volunteering with the Mobile Missionaries Assistance Program (MMAP), using his skills to help others wherever he could.
An outdoorsman at heart, Joe loved fishing, hunting, camping, and especially summers on the lake with his grandchildren, many of whom he taught to waterski. Known affectionately as "Papaw," his wisdom and quiet strength guided generations.
In March 2013, Joe was blessed with a second chapter of love when he married June Monroe. They shared a beautiful life together, traveling, enjoying games, puzzles, dominoes, and the joy of family life.
Joe was preceded in death by his first wife, Barbara Bell Perdue; his daughter, Jacquelyn Thompson; sons, James and Jay Perdue; parents, Thomas and Willie Perdue; brothers, James T. Perdue and William D. Perdue and wife, Neta; sister, Sallie Lois Perdue; grandson, Jeffrey Brown; and great-grandson, Jevon Boney.

Joe also leaves behind 12 grandchildren, their spouses and families, 28 great-grandchildren, and 4 great-great-grandchildren; as well as his extended family, Charee Knauth and husband Ronnie, and Jason Welch.
