Joan was born Dec. 13, 1944, in Greensboro, N.C., to Willard and Laura Kaminer. She moved to Jackson, Miss., where she enlisted in the Army in 1965. She proudly served until her honorable discharge in 1975. Joan worked as a respiratory therapist for more than 25 years beginning in Biloxi and then at Amarillo VA Hospital. She was active in AA and sponsored many people through their recovery process. She was a strong, independent woman and a structured, loving mother. She had a great love for her dogs, especially her dog, Rex
She was preceded in death by her parents and grandson, Brandon Henriquez in 2009.
Survivors include a son, Bill Henriquez and wife Jennifer of Derby, Kan.; three grandchildren, Emily Henriquez, Emma Davenport and Tyler Davenport, all of Amarillo; and her stepson,
Willy Henriquez of Mount Holly, N.J.
