Joe was born on November 20, 1951, in Amarillo, to Jim and Elaine Brewton. Joe worked as an Area Manager for Border States Electric Supply until his retirement in 2012. He was raised as a Master Mason and was a founding member and director of the notorious Khiva Oriental Band. His passion for the Ladder of Smiles, which raises funds for the Shriner's Hospitals, was enormously revealed as he became the president of the National Association of Shrine Oriental Bands in 2007-2008.
His hobbies included relentlessly toying with his Harley Davidson trike, making BBQ sauce, cooking BBQ, the joys of fishing, being a driving volunteer at the Harrington Cancer Center in Amarillo, and cursing the Dallas Cowboys on Sunday afternoons in good and bad times. At times, with or without a paper bag on his head when "simple football" questions were asked from certain parties. His love of music was what brought so much joy to him and others, as he was a major part in collaborating the music for the KOB.
He is survived by his son Aric and wife Marci of Canyon, step daughter Elaina Cunningham of Canyon, brother David and wife Diane of Amarillo, his "favorite" nephew Craig and wife Lexie, "the other" nephew Matt and his wife Amy, all of Amarillo, his daughter Allison and husband Jody Donaho of Normangee. Grandsons, Grayson and Kannon Brewton, James Gauna, granddaughter Audrey Donaho, great nieces and nephews Sam, Ryder, Presley, Sara, Leah Brewton, all of Amarillo.
He was preceded in death by his parents Jim and Elaine and his loving wife, Theresa.
