Joe Clemans

September 15, 1966 — October 6, 2024

Amarillo

Known for his love of family, generosity of self, and his ever-present candor, Joseph Jesse Clemans II, 58, of Amarillo, Texas passed away on October 6th, 2024.

He was born in Amarillo in 1966 to Truman and Jan Clemans, from who he learned his dedication to his family and his steadfast moral compass. Growing up in Amarillo, Joe was a Boy Scout; learning to be an avid outdoorsman with his father; the two often stocking the family freezer with deer and pheasant. Together they shared many experiences camping and hunting from the plains, to deep into the Pecos wilderness. Guided by his mother, Joe was an involved member of the Catholic Church. These experiences heavily influenced Joe’s character, that which he would instill in his own children.

In his Sophomore year at Caprock Highschool, Joe met his soulmate, Tammy Carlton, in choir (a class that he wasn’t supposed to have been in). Married in 1986, Joe and Tammy began their next journey with their three boys: Jeremy, Zachary, and Ethan. During those years, Joe worked in sales, serving the tri-state area. The fondest of memories were made on family vacations to the mountains where Joe, Tammy, and the boys spent weeks camping, exploring, and fishing, all the while with Joe passing down the knowledge he had learned from generations past.

In 2003, Tammy and Joe embarked on a new journey: Grandkids. It was no time that the eight of them became central to their lives. Jeri’yah, A’Myah, Tracy-Leigh, Aislee, Emylia, Joseph (III), Ezekiel, Avery, and great grandson, Ky’Zeir were the highlight to Joe’s life in these last years.

Most recently, Joe began working for NWTH. There he learned a new joy and purpose in serving his community, helping the patients and nurses who depended on him and enjoyed his humor.

Joe will be missed by his sister Cathleen Tutt and her family of Midland, sister in-law Pam Vladpallin of Amarillo as well as countless other family and friends including: Chad Cole, Jeff Parsons, Devin McMillon, Ryan and Jordan Sustaita.
