Joe Allen Lawler, 78, of Amarillo, died Saturday, October 3, 2020. No services are scheduled at this time. Joe was born June 6, 1942 in Wheeler, Texas to Jake and Frances Lawler. He graduated from Shamrock High School, and went on to attend Draughans Business School. He married Virginia Williams on December 28, 1962. Together, they raised four children. Joe worked for Santa Fe Railroad for 21 years. He went on to work as the head custodian for First Christian Church until his retirement. Joe and Virginia loved square dancing. Joe was an avid reader and enjoyed listening to music. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Virginia Lawler; and a granddaughter, Teagan Lawler. Survivors include three sons, Clinton Lawler of Texico, NM, Brett Lawler and wife Gina, and William Lawler all of Amarillo; a daughter, Alicia Wade and husband Brad of College Station; a brother, Jake Lawler of Shamrock; five grandchildren, Garrett Lawler, Macy Fletcher and husband Ryan, Maranda Nichols, Becca Varner and husband Jake, and Maggie Wade; two great-grandchildren, Adeline and Blair.  The family suggests memorials may be made to The American Heart Association at www.heart.org; or The American Diabetes Association at www.diabetes.org.
