Joe Lee Rogers, 81, of Amarillo, died Wednesday, October 18, 2017. Memorial services will be 2:00pm Friday, October 20, 2017 at Mescalero Baptist Church, 13330 Mescalero Trail. Joe was born October 28, 1935 in Canyon to Ruben and Ada Rogers. He married Peggy Curlee on May 18, 1956. He worked as a truck driver for 35 years, 20 of which he drove for Roadway Trucking. Joe was a member of Mescalero Baptist Church. He served as a deacon there for 40 years. He taught Sunday school classes for adults as well as junior high students. He enjoyed working in his yard and puttering around in his shop. Joe was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Betty Blasingame; an infant brother; a brother, Floyd Rogers; a granddaughter, Jennifer Rogers; a daughter-in-law, Denise Rogers; and a sister-in-law, Jo Rogers. Survivors include his wife, Peggy Rogers; four sons, Floyd Rogers and wife Debi of Cincinnati, OH, Ron Rogers, Dustin Rogers and wife Theresa all of Canyon, and Rusty Rogers of Amarillo; a daughter, Holly Lamm and husband Joe of Denton; a brother, Don Rogers of Amarillo; a sister, Mary Tucker of Athens; several grandchildren; many great-grandchildren; two great-great-granddaughters; two special friends, Dee Haws and Brenda Kettler. The family suggests memorials be made to Mescalero Baptist Church Prayer Garden, 13330 Mescalero Trail, Amarillo, TX 79118.
