John "J.D." David Nunez Sr.

John “J.D.” David Nunez Sr. 56, of Amarillo, passed away on Sunday September 11, 2022. Funeral services will be 2:00 PM Saturday September 17, 2022 at Cox-Rowley Funeral Home. The family will receive friends on Friday September 16, 2022 from 6:00 – 8:00 PM at the funeral home, and the public will have the opportunity to pay your respects to J.D. at that time. Arrangements are under the direction of Cox-Rowley Funeral Home.

J.D. was born in Corpus Christi, Texas on April 08, 1966 to Albino Abel Nunez and Vicki Cavazos Nunez. J.D. has been a part of the Amarillo Community since 1995. Throughout his lifetime, J.D. remained a dedicated and hardworking man. He was involved in graphic design and became a master framer and carpenter. J.D. also worked as a heavy equipment operator and owned and operated his own asphalt company. He enjoyed music, playing the harmonica And singing. J.D. loved to BBQ, he made a darn good meal. He also collected rocks, loved to travel, and spend time outdoors. He was a true family man and enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and had a wonderful sense of humor.

J.D. was preceded in death by his parents Albino and Vicki Nunez; three brothers, Albino Abel Nunez Jr., Joseph Charles Nunez and Angel Nunez; one sister, Alva Mae Nunez; two sons, Andres “Andy” Nunez and Joseph “Charlie” Nunez.

Survivors include his daughter, Estella Barber and husband, Garrett Hall; his son, Johnny Nunez Jr., his wife Jacqueline Nunez; daughter Ashley Bowman and husband Tyler; daughter Amber Kempf, all of Amarillo; two brothers, Emmanuel Angel Nunez, Alfredo Nunez; five sisters, Julia Nunez, Elizabeth Paulette, Rosemary Nunez, Angie Rylan and Diana Nunez; Several grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
