John "Rocky" Patton

John “Rocky” Patton, 58, of Amarillo, passed away on Saturday, February 5, 2022. Celebration of Life Services will be 2:00 PM Friday, February 18, 2022 at Cox-Rowley Funeral Home Chapel, 4180 Canyon Drive.

Rocky was born September 17, 1963 in Kiowa, Kansas to Ron and Jean Patton. He attended school in Fargo, Oklahoma, and graduated from Cotopaxi High School in 1982. He earned his bachelor degree from Texas Tech in 1987. Rocky loved cooking and did so as work for many years. He worked for Hud’s and Road Runner Express. Rocky was an avid sports fan, especially of football.

Rocky was a strong Christian man who read his Bible every day, never missing a day. He loved people, and treated everyone like family, no matter who they were or what they had done. He was very forgiving, compassionate and caring. Rocky loved his family, and he especially adored his daughter, Sherydyn. He was an extremely hard worker and enjoyed the outdoors. He loved animals, especially Rascal.

He was on the Shamrock Volunteer Fire Dept. for many years, and enjoyed cooking for their annual pancake breakfast. Rocky is remembered as not liking the quiet at all. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.

Rocky was preceded in death by his step-father, Danny Small; and his sister, Ronda Rogers.

Survivors include his daughter, Sherydyn Patton and fiancé Beau Massey of Amarillo; his mother, Jean Small of Amarillo; his father and step-mother, Ron and Janie Patton of Shamrock, TX; two sisters, Joy Denny and husband Bryan of Amarillo, and Valerie Potter and husband David of Raydon, OK; two brothers, Danny McCollum and wife Rose of Flowery Branch, GA, Kenneth Patton and wife Jessie of Shamrock, TX; two bonus daughters, Brittany Jarvis of Lawrence, KS, and Tara Hall of Norman, OK; Sherydyn’s mother, Krista Switzer of Shawnee, OK; several aunts and uncles; many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews; and a multitude of friends.
