John William Schehl

SFC (Ret.) John William Schehl was born in Butler, PA., on 5 March 1945 to Herbert A. Schehl and Sara J. Schehl (Barto). At 17 years of age John joined the United States Army. He completed 20 years of service, retiring at Ft. Leonard Wood, MO, in May of 1983. His military awards include the Vietnam Service Medal with 3 Bronze Service Stars and the Meritorious Service Medal, as well as many others. After his retirement from the military, John received his real estate license and sold homes in the Waynesville/St. Robert, MO area. During this time he met and soon married his wife of 26 years, Diana K. Schehl (Anglin). In 1998 they moved to Diana's hometown of Amarillo, TX, where both worked in the automobile sales industry. John was a humorous man who enjoyed riding his motorcycle, fishing, and spending time with family. Survivors include his wife, Diana K. Schehl; Children, Deborah A. Schehl, Carey L. Schehl, (MO), Donald C. M. O'Brien (Kelly), Lisa N. Byers (Schehl) (Bryce) (TX); Grandchildren, Sidney L. Kussman, Jared W. Hyatt, Logan A. O'Brien, Dylan M. O'Brien (MO), Jeffrey "Hunter" Stone, Gracie D. O'Brien, Kaytlin M. Krutzsch, Haley R. Krutzsch, Ethan D. Byers (TX); Siblings, Linda Schehl, Connie Mezaroes (PA), Frank and Debbie Lawrence (FL), Timothy and Alice Schehl (OH), Roger and Annie Lawrence (FL). Preceded in death by: Parents, Herbert A. Schehl and Sara J. Schehl.
