John T. Dellis

John T. Dellis, 89, of Amarillo died Friday, August 14, 2020. Funeral services will be 2:00 PM Wednesday at Cliffside Baptist Church, 8320 Cliffside Rd. with Pastor Corey Sams officiating. The family will receive friends from 6:00 – 8:00 PM Tuesday at Cox-Rowley Funeral Home, 4180 Canyon Drive. Burial will be at Memorial Park Cemetery. John was born January 18, 1931 in Panhandle, Texas to Harvey and Lena Dellis. He proudly served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War, from 1948-1952. John married Reba Loshy on November 24, 1967. He worked for Pantex for 33 years, several of which he served as regional director of the Pantex Guard Association. John served as pastor of Beacon Baptist Church for several years. He started a truck stop ministry in Amarillo where he served for a number of years. This was a ministry that was very important to John. He was an avid bowler, and was the men’s league director at Palo Duro Bowl for many years. He also enjoyed, fishing, camping, playing games, and watching NASCAR. He was a faithful member of Cliffside Baptist Church, where he served as deacon. John was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Reba Dellis; two sisters, Viola Akins and Betty Gilbert; a step-son, Johnny Loshy; and a step-grandson, Tyler Loshy. Survivors include two sons, John E. Dellis of Bushland, and Harvey Dellis of Canyon; five grandchildren, John L. Dellis of Bushland, Noranda Duren of Corpus Christi, Jamie Romero of Lubbock, Jadee Dellis of San Diego, CA, and Jace Dellis of Amarillo; and eight great-grandchildren.
