Johnny “Pete” Green, 81, of Amarillo, TX, passed away on August 21, 2024. Celebration of Life services will be 10:00 AM Monday August 26, 2024 at Cox-Rowley Funeral home, 4180 Canyon Drive with Pastor Greg Corona officiating. The family will receive friends immediately following the memorial service from 11:00 – 12:00 PM. Arrangements are under the direction of Cox-Rowley Funeral Home. Pete was born on November 3, 1942 in Amarillo to Bill and Virginia Green, and he grew up in Sunray, TX. He played football for the Amarillo Rustlers and enjoyed competitive boxing. He married Betty Peryatel Wilson and together they celebrated 40 years of marriage.
Pete was a dedicated and hardworking man. His work life started in the farm and ranch industry and led to over 50 years of truck driving and hauling cattle and horses throughout the United States and Canada. Pete served in the United States Army and was a true cowboy at heart. He had a deep love for Texas and his country. He was a steadfast Christian man who loved Jesus and treated everyone like family.
Pete was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Nikki Kimbrel Cordova.
Survivors include his wife, Betty Green of the home; his two daughters, Kristi Carter and husband David of Fort Worth, and Karen Proffer and husband Patrick of Amarillo, son Chance Green of Dumas; brother, Peyton Green and his wife Dianne of Amarillo; nine grandchildren: Cody, Cayden, Miranda, Jackson, Blair, Jake, Allie, Josh and Ainslee; and niece Toshia Dockins and husband Hollis of Amarillo.
