Jose "Joe" Lara

Jose “Joe” Lara, 86, of Amarillo, passed away on Saturday, March 20, 2021. No services are scheduled at this time. Joe was born February 19, 1935 in Chihuahua, Mexico. He was a very outspoken and outgoing person who was easily the life of the party. He loved being outdoors and fishing. He enjoyed taking trips to the lake and the river, singing along to his favorite songs, playing pool, entering car shows, and grilling outside with his family. Joe was a very hardworking man and was always repairing things himself. He had a heart of gold and his family and friends meant a lot to him. He impacted a lot of people’s lives and could make anyone smile. Joe will always be remembered as a wild and fun person.

Joe was preceded in death by his grandson Andrew Martin Santos.

Survivors include his wife Angelita Salazar; seven step-children, Alex and wife Tammy Alvarado, Sandy Alvarado, Norma and wife Delia Alvarado, Paul Jr. and wife Natalie Alvarado of Denton, TX, Nancy and wife Alvina Alvarado, Brenda and husband Tony Todd, and Anjelita Alvarado; 22 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
