Jovita Gonzalez

Jovita Gonzalez, 95, of Amarillo passed away on Friday, August 13, 2021 in Amarillo.  Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, August 18, 2021 at the Cox-Rowley Funeral Home Chapel, 4180 Canyon Drive with Deacon Pablo Morales officiating.

Jovita was born on February 13, 1926 in Ysleta, Texas to Santos and Edwviges Gonzalez.  She married Francisco Lara in Chihuahua, Mexico.  Jovita loved singing and was a homemaker enjoying cooking, gardening, sewing and keeping her house very nice.  Her daughters remembered her making their childhood dresses from the flour sacks she would save.  They recalled how pretty they were in all kinds of colors.  Jovita especially liked baking and pastries was her specialty.  Jovita was lover of life itself and especially enjoyed reading her Bible daily.  She always enjoyed her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Jovita was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Francisco Lara; three sons, Carlos Lara, Ruben Sigala and Francisco Lara; two daughters, Yolanda Bello and Maria Franco; and one brother Librado Gonzalez.

Survivors include her daughters, Gracie Caple of Amarillo, Maria Lara of Midland, Texas and Dora Sigala of Chihuahua, Mexico; 16 grandchildren and 25 great grandchildren.
