Joy June Chapman, lovingly known to her family as Gamma and Gammy, passed away on August 31, 2026, at the age of 93.
Born on September 20, 1932, Joy was a lifelong source of love, strength, warmth, and wisdom to her family and all who knew her. A beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, she created a legacy of love that will continue through the generations.
Joy was married to JC Chapman, the love of her life, for 67 years. Their life together was a beautiful testament to enduring love, commitment, and companionship. Although JC preceded her in death, the love they shared remained a cherished part of Joy’s life and her family’s memories.
A woman of faith, Joy was a member of The Church at Quail Creek. Her faith, family, and home were at the heart of her life. She found great joy in the things she loved—gardening, sewing, quilting, and playing bridge. She had a creative spirit and a gift for making things beautiful, whether through her quilting and sewing or through the love and care she poured into her family.
Joy was preceded in death by her beloved husband, JC Chapman; her son, Rick Chapman; and her daughter, Becky Miller.
She is survived by her daughter, Pamela Chapman; son-in-law, Chuck Miller; daughter-in-law, Kathy Moller; grandson, Scott Lockhart; granddaughters, Lindsey Sizer and Rikki Dennis; and great-grandchildren, Liam Sizer, Max Sizer, Riley Dennis, and Jackson Dennis.
To her family, Joy was simply Gamma or Gammy—a name filled with love, comfort, and treasured memories. She was a keeper of family traditions, a storyteller, a maker of beautiful things, and a steady presence in the lives of those she loved. Her grandchildren and great-grandchildren will carry with them the special memories of the love she gave and the life she shared with them. Joy’s passing leaves a profound emptiness for those who loved her, but her 93 years were filled with a lifetime of love, family, faith, friendship, and memories that will never fade. Her family is grateful for every year, every story and every moment they were blessed to call her theirs.
Her love will live on in her family, her traditions, and in the hearts of all who knew her. She was deeply loved, and she will be forever missed.
