Joyce Marie Cox-Stokes

October 27, 1927 — May 13, 2016

Joyce was born in McLoud, OK to Esther Eliza and Orville Ray Stearman. She was the only girl of seven children. She attended school in Humphries, Oklahoma where she played basketball and was salutatorian of her class. Joyce was a telephone operator in Altus Oklahoma where she met and married Leonard A. Cox and raised their family. They moved to Amarillo in 1958. She worked in the office at Kmart for 20 years. She was in avid fisherwoman and enjoyed camping, boating, games of all types with her family. She was an inspiration to all who knew her and was loved by many. She is survued by 3 daughters, Judy Dickenson and her husband Jerry of Altus, Oklahoma, Brenda Preston and her husband Bill of Amarillo and Nita Francis and her husband Donald of Seven Points. 9 grandchildren, 20 great grandchildren and 21 great-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her Husband,Leonard a Cox, husband, Ivan "Red" Stokes, daughter, Betty L. Cox, grandson Robert A. Dickenson and great grandchild Brandon H. Diehl.
