Judy Lee Atkins

Judy was born October 13, 1950 in Amarillo to E.A. "Dude" and Nina Beatrice Atkins. She graduated from West Texas State University in 1974 with a degree in biology, and while attending college, she worked at the Potter County Sheriff's Office. In 1977, she went to work at Pantex in the chemlab, later moving to the Industrial Hygiene Department in 1986. She ran the personal protective equipment program where she made hard work seem so effortless. She retired from Pantex after more than 35 years of service. She was also a member of Mensa. Her hobbies included crossword puzzles and movies. Her passion was her cats and having so many, she got a group discount at the vet. She was preceded in death by her parents, E. A. "Dude" and Nina Beatrice Atkins. She is survived by an aunt and uncle, Mavis and Al Green of Wildorado; five double cousins, Gail Lowe of Amarillo, Alfred N. "Buzzy" Green of Gilmer, TX, Pamela G. Goree of Boswell, OK, Brad Green of Silverdale, Washington, Cary Neal Green of Buena Vista, CO; 2 other cousins, Jim and Mike Whisenhunt both of Amarillo; special friends and caregivers, Gary Thurmond and Lydia Navarro of Amarillo; and a host of friends.
