Kathleen Caldwell, 67, of Amarillo, passed away on Saturday, June 20, 2026. Kathleen “Kathy” was born September 20, 1958 in Pasadena, California to Capt. R.H. “Ray” and Margaret “Marge” Bradshaw. She graduated high school in O’ahu, Hawaii and earned her bachelor’s in social work at the University of Texas at Austin. She later graduated with a master’s in social work at UT in Arlington. Kathy used her clinical social worker license to serve others. She worked for Catholic Family Services for several years, assisting in maternity, adoptions, and refugee resettlement. She later worked as part of the Veteran’s Hospital in Amarillo where she helped homeless and at risk veterans locate and keep housing. She retired earlier this year.
Kathy loved people. The greatest joys she had in life happened in the company of others. She could spend great lengths of time getting to know new people and proved to have a knack for enabling others to better understand their identities through poignant conversations. She found purpose in helping others and received great satisfaction in her work. Her warmth made it easy to talk with her earnestly and unguarded. A regular watcher of world news broadcasts, Kathy concerned herself with others on a macroscale, often inciting tactful discussions with others about how to create a more positive world. Her delightful observations about people and her humorous demeanor will be missed.
Kathy’s interests were few, but she dived into each of them deeply. She had an exceptional ability to identify and elaborate on the peculiarities of gemstones. She kept a collection of them and found a great deal of beauty in the systematic way in which the earth shaped and colored them. Ever the investigator into life's biggest questions, she delved into televised crime mysteries, articles about the way in which nature manifested itself, and the inner workings of psychology and psychiatry. These interests gave her a type of wisdom which allowed her to see things through both cerebral and heartfelt perspectives.
Kathy was preceded in death by her parents and a sister, Patricia Bradshaw.
Survivors include two sons, Clinton Caldwell and Christopher Caldwell of Amarillo, a sister, Laura Bradshaw of Austin, her precious granddaughter, Opal Caldwell, and Tom Caldwell.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial donations. Support Kathy's passions by committing donations to others. Here are two organizations Kathy felt provided positive public services:
