Kay Pafford Chester

Kay was born August 18, 1942 to Hermon C. Pafford and Mary Ledbetter Pafford. She graduated from Claude High School in 1961. She earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Elementary Education from West Texas State University. She was a wonderful teacher for 30 years, most of which were at Forest Hill Elementary School in Amarillo. She married Bob Chester in 1966 at the J.A. Hill Chapel in Canyon. He preceded her in death in 1987. Kay was a wonderful mother, sister, aunt, and friend who will be dearly missed. Even through her journey with cancer, her concern for others was always greater than her concern for herself. Also preceding her in death are her parents, and her sister, Mary Louise Lockhart. The family gratefully acknowledges Dr. Nizar Tannir of MD Anderson Cancer Center, and Faith Presbyterian Hospice for the excellent care provided to Kay. Survivors include her son, Shea Chester and spouse Ken DeCamp of Carrollton, TX; her brother, Joe Pafford and wife Jan of Wright City, Missouri; a dear cousin who is a sister of the heart, Myrna Tompkins of Amarillo; and many special nieces and nephews including Connie Lockhart Hill and Sherie Lockhart Kleman, both of Amarillo. The family requests donations be made to the Bob and Kay Chester Memorial Scholarship, in care of West Texas A&M University Foundation, WT Box 60766, Canyon, TX 79016.
