Kaye Mccrary

Kaye was born on September 21, 1942 in Hobbs, NM to James and Margie Shaffer. She moved to Amarillo as a child. She married Donnie McCrary on October 3, 1958. Together, they moved to California during his military enlistment. There, Kaye ran the 12th Street hotel before returning to Amarillo, where she worked for Kenneth Lard Insurance Agency before devoting her life to caring for her family. She loved nothing more than being a wife and mother to her family and a loving and caring neighbor. Her children remember her always being home when they returned from school and her sweet cards that she always sent to let others know how much she loved them. She enjoyed doing crossword puzzles and playing many Scrabble and Wahoo games and cherished being "Gammy" to her grandchildren. She is survived by her husband, Donnie McCrary of Amarillo; son, Robby McCrary and wife Glenda of Amarillo; daughter, Kristi Dawn Harrison and husband Melvin of Fort Worth; 2 grandchildren, Nathan McCrary and wife Jessica of Heartland, TX and Libby McCrary Cummings; great granddaughter, Ellie Claire Cummings and her brother, Dwight Shaffer and wife Doris of Amarillo. She was preceded in death by her parents and her sister, Carolyn Shaffer.
