Ken Vieth

Benjamin Kenneth Vieth was called home to be with his Lord and Savior on November 7, 2024. Funeral services are scheduled for 2:00 PM Friday November 15, 2024 at Trinity Lutheran Church, 5005 I-40, Amarillo, Texas. The family will be accepting friends from 5:00-7:00 PM Thursday November 14, 2024 at Cox-Rowley Funeral Home, 4180 Canyon Drive. Arrangements are under the direction of Cox-Rowley Funeral Home.

Ken was born to Ben and Laura Vieth on February 23, 1929 in Bunceton, Missouri. He grew up at a farm near Lone Elm, MO. He graduated from Booneville High School in Booneville, MO.  He met and married Mabel Vieth on January 4th, 1952 at Trinity Lutheran Church.  They celebrated over 72, years of marriage together before her passing.

Ken enlisted in the Army Air Corp in 1946.  He proudly served his country for 24 years. Ken was stationed in Bermuda, Amarillo AFB  Amarillo, TX; Chanute AFB, Rantoul, IL; March AFB, Riverside, CA; Taranto, Italy and, Lakenheath, England.   He reached the rank of Major. Ken retired from the United States Air Force in 1970 at March AFB and began a career in the United States Postal Service.  Ken eventually retired from the Postal Service as Plant Maintenance Manager in Amarillo, TX.  He was also able to complete his education and was a graduate of Wayland Baptist University.  Ken was involved in supporting his sons in their harvesting company for many years. He was a charter member of the US Custom Harvesters, Inc and remained an active member until his passing.  Ken was a long time member of Trinity Lutheran and Prince of Peace Lutheran Churches.

He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Mabel; his parents, Ben and Laura Vieth; his sister Marjorie Meyer; and his son-in-law David Hanssen .

Survivors include his two daughters, Laurie Clayton and husband Dennis of Fayetteville, AR;  Beth Hanssen of Prosper, TX; his two sons, Michael Vieth and wife Tanya of Justin, TX; Mark Vieth and wife Regina of Amarillo, TX; his 11 grandchildren, Blythe Eggleston and husband Michael; Sean Clayton and wife Kelly; Stephen Hanssen and wife Kelly; Benjamin Hanssen and wife Alaina; Amanda Stark and husband Shawn; Christopher Vieth and wife Madelyn; Lauren Graham and husband Justin; Eric Vieth and wife Katlynn; Emily Roys and her husband Colt; Taylor Vieth; Trevor Vieth; his 19 and a half great-grandchildren; his sister, Dorothy Vieth of Columbia, MO.  Survivors also include a host of other family members and dear friends.

In lieu of flowers the family asks donations to be made to Trinity Lutheran School or to Prince of Peace Lutheran Church.
