Kenda Gaines Simms

Kenda was born on November 29, 1956 in Amarillo to James and Glenda Gaines. She was raised in Amarillo, where she graduated from Caprock High School in 1975. She worked for Southwestern Bell Telephone, which later became AT&T as a technician, retiring in 2011 after over 35 years of employment. Kenda loved animals, especially her horses. She was known for her incredible work ethic, kind spirit and friendly smile. Most of all, Kenda loved her family. Her sons were her life and she adored her grandchildren. They enjoyed family trips to the mountains and fishing as often as possible. She is survived by her 2 sons, Jason Simms and wife Jennifer of Amarillo and Brad Simms and wife Cassie of Amarillo; parents, James and Glenda Gaines of Amarillo; 2 brothers, David Gaines and wife Stephanie of Borger and Donald Gaines and wife Debbie of Amarillo; 4 grandsons, Jaxon, Jenson, Kason and Kanon Simms and several nieces and nephews, whom she loved greatly. The family will receive guests for visitation from 6:00-8:00 p.m. Thursday, July 16, 2015 at Cox Funeral Home.
