Laferne Ball

LaFerne was born April 23, 1932 to Luther and Mamie Thompson in Samnorwood, TX. She attended Samnorwood High School graduating in 1949. Upon graduating she become an Administrative director for the Outreach Health Services retiring in 1997. On August 9, 1968 LaFerne married the love of her life SB Ball, Jr. They had five children, Deborah Breitling, Dana Webber, Candice Marie Linton, Tracy Ball, and Dianna McClain. She was known as Mamaw to her grandchildren and Great-grandchildren. During her life she was a member of South Georgia Baptist Church. She will be deeply loved and missed. She is survived by her husband, Slade "S.B." Ball, Jr.; father, Robert "Bob" Johnson; and children, Deborah Breitling and husband Darrell, Dana Webber, Candice Marie Linton and husband Josh, Tracy Ball and wife Teressa; 6 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great grandchildren. LaFerne was preceded in death by her mother Mamie Johnson; brother, L.O. Thompson; and daughter, Dianna McClain. The family suggests memorials be made to the Alzheimer's Association or South Georgia Baptist Church.
