Laoma H. Ivey, 82, of Washburn passed away on Thursday, January 11, 2018. Graveside Services will be at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, January 13, 2018 at Washburn Cemetery with Rocky Alexander officiating. Laoma was born on September 25, 1935 in Hereford to Howard and Mary Hershey. She was raised in Dimmitt, where she graduated high school. She married Lonnie Ivey on February 7, 1967 in Amarillo. He preceded her in death in 2004. Laoma most recently worked at Truck Town Restaurant as a waitress, cashier and stocker. She was known to be a hard worker and enjoyed gardening, shooting pool and playing poker. She was a talented piano player and a devoted Christian. Laoma is survived by her 2 daughters, Cindy Swinney of Claude and Connie McKay and husband Les of Amarillo; sister, Zelma Sorgenfrei of Conroe; 4 grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren; sister-in-law, Hazel Hershey of Houston; brother-in-law, Dempsey Alexander of Grapevine and her nieces and nephews who loved her dearly. She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Elmer Hershey; sister, Thelma Alexander and husband Lonnie Ivey. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions be made to the High Plains Food Bank, PO BOX 31803, Amarillo TX, 79120 or to theASPCA.
