Larry was born Oct. 4, 1952, in Amarillo to Fred and Kathryn Cox. He moved to Albuquerque, N.M., during junior high and graduated high school there at Sandia High School. He then attended Eastern New Mexico University in Portales from 1970 to 1973. He served briefly in the Army National Guard in 1973 before returning to Amarillo in 1975. Larry married Jan Jacobsen Larson on Dec. 17, 1982, in Amarillo.
He worked for Ponca Wholesale, Anderson Merchandisers and served as coordinator at TMG Health at the time of his death. Most importantly, Larry was a loving husband, father and grandfather to his family. His passion was music and he fulfilled that passion playing bass guitar in several bands throughout his life. He was an avid sportsman and loved coaching baseball and following his son's sporting events as well as teaching his
granddaughter the basics of softball along with his son. Larry was a San Francisco 49ers fan as well as a Texas Rangers fan. He will be remembered most for his sense of humor and the jokes he always had for others.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Survivors include his wife, Jan Cox of Amarillo; a daughter, Angela Archer and husband Casey of Amarillo; a son, Kevin Cox of Amarillo; a brother, Fred Cox Jr. and wife Quenna of Arlington; a sister, Marilyn Eastwood and husband Gary of Westcliffe, Colo.; and two grandchildren, Shelby and Shawn.
