Larry Jobe

June 22, 1964 — March 14, 2017

Larry was born on June 22, 1964 in Hereford Tx. He moved to Pawnee, Ok at the age of 14, where he graduated from Pawnee High School in 1982. He married Deborah McAdams on May 11, 1984 in Amarillo, Tx. In 1986, Larry enlisted in the United States Army, where he proudly served over 5 years and was honorably discharged in 1991. Larry was a proud veteran of Operation Desert Storm. He began his employment with Texas Department of Criminal Justice-ID in 2004 as a Correctional Officer, and later as a maintenance supervisor. Larry left state employment for a brief time and had just returned in February as a Correctional Officer. Larry was known for his superior resolve and broad shoulders, upon which he proudly carried the burdens of others. Larry was a life member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1475, where he was a former chairman of VFW Post 1475 Motorcycle Group 6. He was a devout veteran's advocate. Most important to Larry was the battle of Veteran and First Responder Suicide. As a result of his concern, he founded Save the Vets 22 - Amarillo with the hope of bringing awareness to the community and eliminate Veteran suicide. But above all, Larry loved his family and enjoyed his "knees in the breeze" and the "sunshine on my face" on the back of his Harley, Delilah. Although Larry was taken from his family and friends too soon, he died with his knees in the breeze and the sunshine on his face. Larry was preceded in death by his mother, Betty Cummins. He is survived by his wife, Deborah Jobe of Amarillo; 3 sons, Derik Jobe and wife Kimberly and Nick Jobe and wife Janessa, all of Amarillo and Chance Jobe and wife Randie of Childress; daughter, Kaitlin Aleman of Clarksville, TN; father, Ray Cummins of Amarillo, Tx; father-in-law, Weldon McAdams and wife Judy of Amarillo; sister-in-law, Dana McAdams of Amarillo; brother-in-law, David McAdams and wife Linda of Farmington, Mn, 7 grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Save The Vets 22-Amarillo.
