Larry was born on November 8, 1957 in Amarillo, where he was raised and graduated from Caprock High School in 1975. He enjoyed bowling and was on a bowling league, where he met his wife, Hellen Ware. They were married on August 8, 1987 in Borger. Larry worked for Levi Strauss for over 23 years, until the plant's closing. He then began his employment with TDCJ, where he has worked as a correctional officer for over 13 years. He enjoyed square dancing and clogging with his family and enjoyed watching Sci-Fi movies in his home. Most of all, Larry loved his family and loved time spent with them.
He is survived by his wife, Hellen Kitchen of Amarillo; 3 children, Danielle Kitchen and Matthew Kitchen, both of Amarillo and Carla Smith and husband Chad of Stratford; 3 brothers, Bennie Flewelling of Minneapolis, Richard Flewelling and wife Erlin of Amarillo and Douglas Flewelling of Amarillo; sister, Linda Cole and husband Ronald of Amarillo and grandson, Logan Pena-McCandless of Amarillo
He was preceded in death by his biological mother, Nelta Flewelling and adopted parents, James and Mary Kitchen.
