Larry Lee Swafford

Larry Lee Swafford passed away August 17, 2022. A Celebration of Life will be held Wednesday, August 24, 2022 at 1 pm at Hillside Church –Amarillo West Campus. Larry was born January 7, 1944 in Liberal, Kansas to Melvin and Bonita Swafford. He attended grade school in Kismet, Kansas. When he was 12, his father was killed in an industrial accident; and the family moved to Liberal, where he graduated from high school in 1962. He served in the United States Army for four years, then enrolled at West Texas State University where he received his MBA. While attending graduate school he met Sandra Michael, whom he married in 1971, they reached their 50th anniversary in 2021.

He was a successful salesman, first in oil and gas supplies, then medical waste disposal services. He loved to trout fish and insisted on using artificial lures. He loved spectator sports and watched then on the 3 TV’s in his man cave. He was a very kind and loving person with a great sense of humor. He was a long time member of Paramount Terrace Christian Church, now Hillside Christian Church where he served as an usher.

He is preceded in death by his parents.

He is survived by his wife, Sandra; two sisters, Melva Davis and Shirley McMenamy, along with several nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers, the family request donations be made to Faith City Ministries or a charity of your choice.
