Lavonia was born October 4, 1923 in Leesburg, GA, to George W. and Lillie Mae Champion. She grew up in Sylvester, GA. She was the valedictorian of her high school class. She married Harold Stewart in 1943 at Albany, GA.
Lavonia was a seamstress for the community in Keyes, OK in the early years. She also worked at the school cafeteria and the drug store in Keyes. Later, she worked two jobs simultaneously, one for the hospital in Boise City, OK, along with the bank in Keyes. Lavonia adored her kids, grandkids, and great-grandkids. She will be greatly missed.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Harold Stewart in 2005, a grandson, Shad Sharp in 1975, and a son-in-law, Charles Morris in 2014, and many brothers and sisters.
Survivors include three daughters, Barbara Morris of Eutawville, SC; Linda Ellerd and husband Joe, and Debby Nichols and husband Dub, all of Amarillo; 8 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and 1 great-great-grandchild.
