Lawrence "Larry" Lee Garcia

February 27, 1972 — June 26, 2021

Amarillo

Lawrence “Larry” Lee Garcia, 49, of Amarillo, took his last breath on Saturday, June 26, 2021, at his home. He was surrounded by his loving family. Funeral services will be 11:00 AM on July 1st, at Comanche Trail Church of Christ, 2700 SE 34th Avenue, Amarillo, Texas. The family will receive friends from 6:00 – 8:00 PM on Wednesday, June 30th, at the funeral home, 4180 Canyon Drive. Arrangements are under the direction of Cox-Rowley Funeral Home.

Larry was born on February 27, 1972, to Ventura and Lucy Garcia in Amarillo, Texas. Larry lived a full and happy life at home with his parents until the day he went home to be with Jesus.

He was a wonderful, silent educator. Occasionally ornery and a bit mischievous, he always loved a good joke and loved his friends. He loved car rides and often enjoyed every bump in the road as he and his family headed to wherever they might be going. Larry was idolized by his dear sister, who always tried to include him in whatever she was doing. He never missed a sports game she was in or any event of importance in her life; he was always there to cheer her on.

With a never ending sense of humor, Larry had a laugh that could brighten any room. He was an avid Dallas Cowboys fan, even when they lost a game (or two, or three, or four, or . . .). Among many hobbies, Larry enjoyed watching car racing and riding in the sidecar of his URAL motorcycle. Although Larry had some physical limits, he never let them stand in the way of enjoying life and the blessings that the Lord provided to him. He is known by many people, not just as “Larry,” but also as Scooter, Bubba, Brother, and Son. Larry was loved by so many and will be missed.

Larry is survived by his mother, Lucy, and father, Ventura Garcia, of Amarillo, and one sister, Erica Garcia, and her husband, Chris Alspach, of Santa Fe, New Mexico.

Survivors also include a host of aunts, uncles, and cousins, along with extended family, friends, and caregivers, including his favorite aunt, Lupe Hampton, of Mocksville, North Carolina, who always ensured that he was well dressed.

In lieu of flowers, the family prefers memorial donations be made to the Shriners Hospital for Children, 2900 Rocky Point Drive, Tampa, Florida 33607, or at https://www.shrinershospitalsforchildren.org/shc/donate .
