“Do not stand at my grave and weep,
I am not there; I do not sleep.
I am a thousand winds that blow,
I am the diamond glints on snow…”
— Mary Elizabeth Frye
With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Leola Wright, who left this world on February 28, 2025, but will never leave our hearts. A soul so kind and a spirit so bright, she lived with love, laughter, and generosity. A Celebration of Life Service is scheduled for 2:00 PM Saturday March 22, 2025 at Cox-Rowley Funeral Home, 4180 Canyon Drive, with Pastor Steve Martin officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Cox-Rowley Funeral Home.
Born on December 31, 1943 to John and Lore Wilson. Leola filled every room with warmth and every life with joy. Whether in quiet moments of wisdom or in loud bursts of laughter, she left a mark on all who knew her. She had a love for gardening, cooking, and spending time at her favorite local restaurant Roadhouse or while in the Dallas Pappaduex’s Seafood Restaurant. Leola found joy in activities, like decorating her church, traveling with her family and hosting family gatherings or parties. Her passion for hosting parties was evident to all who knew her, and created cherished memories for her family and friends.
The LORD is my shepherd; I shall not want. He makes me lie down in green pastures; He leads me beside quiet waters. He restores my soul; He guides me in the paths of righteousness for the sake of His name. Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for You are with me; Your rod and Your staff, they comfort me.
— Psalms 23
Leola was preceded in death by her spouse of 27 years, Clarence L. Wright Sr.
Leola is survived by her three children: Clarence L. Wright Jr. (Vanassa), Debby Denise Holifield (Ken), and Kelvin Jerome Wright; her grandchildren, Patrick Miller, Kolby Blount, Brandy Blount, Brianna Wright, and Brooklinn Wright. Other surviving family members; Lela Smalls, Bessie Connell (Danny), and Jerry Miner (Sharon). She also leaves behind her extended family that she loved and cherished the Atteburys and the Umphries. And a list of survung family members and countless friends who will cherish her memory.
Though we grieve, we also celebrate a life beautifully lived—a story that does not end, but continues in every heart touched by her love.
