Levi Sheard

Levi Sheard, 87, of Clayton, New Mexico, passed away Saturday, April 7, 2018. Funeral services will be 2:00 pm, Saturday, April 21, 2018 at Cox Funeral Home Chapel, 4180 Canyon Dr. with Pastor Anthony Harris of St. John Baptist Church officiating. Mr. Sheard was born February 13, 1931 in Kansas City, Missouri to Bud and Henrietta Sheard. He grew up in Kansas City. He went on to live in several different cities throughout his life. He worked as a printer's apprentice at San Francisco Chronicle, and later worked for GM in Raytown, Missouri. Levi was a religious man, who was patient and even-tempered. He was a family man who enjoyed cooking. He was always compassionate and thoughtful with everyone he met. Levi was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Grace Barns; three brothers, David Sheard, Matthew "Bo" Sheard, and Leslie Sheard; and a sister, Dorothy "Ditty" Sheard. Survivors include a son, Wayne Sheard, Sr. and wife Brandy of Clayton, NM; a daughter, Jessica Sheard of Memphis, TN; a sister, Leola Sheard of Carson City, CA; six grandchildren, Wayne Sheard, Jr., Tanzia Sheard, Jamal Briggs, Nala Thomas, Lexus Sheard, and LaShanda King; and numerous nieces and nephews.
