Lindley Earl Smith was born May 1, 1933 to Thomas and Maud Smith in Wichita Falls, Texas. His family, including his twin brother, Fletcher Smith, moved to Amarillo and he joined First Christian Church in 1941 where he served his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, as a faithful member of the congregation for 74 years. Lindley was affectionately known to all his family and friends as "Unk". Unk graduated from Amarillo High School in 1952 and was proud to be a Sandie.
Unk worked for the Amarillo Independent School district for 33 years retiring in 1996. He especially loved AHS Sandie and THS Rebel sports, attending and working many games. If you have been to a local high school game in the last 20 years, chances are Unk took your ticket. Many thought of him as a gentle and kind man, always willing to help those in need. He recently followed the Levelland Lobos where his great nephews played sports.
The family wishes to express its gratitude to Moore Assisted Living and Hospice Care of the Southwest
