Lois Cheatheam, 92, of Amarillo, passed away on Saturday, July 12, 2025. Funeral services will be 10:00 AM Saturday, July 19, 2025 at Beacon Baptist Church, 417 S. McMasters, with Pastor Curtis Redmond officiating. Burial will be at Memorial Park Cemetery.
Lois was born June 25, 1933 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania to William and Anne Ward. She married her husband, Lark Cheatheam on April 3, 1953 in Amarillo, Texas, and together they raised three children, Bill, Melody and Bob.
Lois dedicated her life to caring for her family. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She loved the Lord first and foremost. She was a dedicated Christian woman who raised her family with a strong faith in God. She was a very talented painter, and took painting classes under Ben Konis and Clarence Kincaid, Sr. Lois created many beautiful pieces throughout her lifetime. Her creativity wasn’t limited to just painting. She was a talented crafter, quilter and seamstress as well.
Lois enjoyed going to the family cabin in Taos, New Mexico that Lark had built and painting there. She was a very funny lady who never lost her sense of humor. She loved to laugh. Lois will be dearly missed by her family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Lark Cheatheam; her son, Bill Cheatheam; and two grandsons, Jeff Medlin and Corkey Medlin.
Survivors include her daughter, Melody Griffin of Amarillo; her son, Bob Cheatheam (Amy) of Abilene; six grandchildren, Nicole Griffin, Faith Montano (Adrian), Dustin Cheatheam, Sy Cheatheam, Beth Burleson (Captain), and Ben Cheatheam; and eight great-grandchildren, Saba, Ryleigh, Joscelin, Madison, Dawson, Jude, Bloom, and Sunday.
The family suggests memorial donations may be made to Beacon Baptist Church, 417 S. McMasters, Amarillo, TX 79106.
