Lois Mildred Pool was born on February 3, 1926 in Megargel,Texas. She was the daughter of Charles Edward and Lillie Bass Pool. Mrs. Burnett graduated from Robert Lee Paschal High School in Fort Worth, Texas in1945. Later that year she married her life-long partner, William Lloyd Burnett. She and W.L. were married 62 blessed years. The union was blessed with four children: W.L. Jr. Burnett and wife Linda of Woodward Ok., Tommy Burnett and wife Shirley of Elkhart Kansas, Brenda Walker and husband Alvin of Amarillo, Texas and Connie Duncan and husband David of Omaha, Nebraska.
Mrs. Burnett leaned on her faith in the Lord, dedicating herself to raising her two sons and two daughters as a military wife in the uncertain years between 1945 and 1952, while her husband served overseas in the U.S. Army during WW II and the Korean conflict. She loved children, demonstrating that love by serving as a children's Sunday school teacher throughout her life. Mrs. Burnett also loved music and enjoyed participating in the church choir. She loved her family and supported her husband's farming enterprise for over 40 years, assuring delicious hot meals were served to all workers. Sunday lunches were always highlights for the family, the bond that forged lifelong connections and fond memories for her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. She carried that tradition into retirement opening her home as a warm family gathering place for holidays and celebrations. Granny or Granny Goose, as her grandchildren and great grandchildren knew her, was famous for her hearty meals and fresh baked cookies, her abundant hugs and kisses, and her insistent desire to spoil her grandchildren with candy each time she saw them. Growing up spending time at her house enjoying love laughter and contentment will be forever marked in our memories.
Mrs. Burnett is survived by her children, nine grandchildren, and many great grandchildren. Mrs. Burnett was preceded in death by her husband, William Lloyd Burnett, Sr., three brothers; Paul Pool, Edward Pool, and A.W. Pool, two sisters, Mattie Lee Dozier and Janice Thompson, and two granddaughters, LaShell Burnett Taylor and Carla Walker Auzenne.
