Loretta Carter, 65, of Amarillo, passed away Thursday October 29, 2020. Funeral services will be 10:00 AM Saturday, November 7, 2020 at Cox-Rowley Funeral Home, 4180 Canyon Drive with Melvin Carter officiating. Loretta will be available for viewing Friday, November 6, 2020 from 12:00 – 8:00 PM at the funeral home. Loretta was born on June 6, 1955 in Shiner, TX to Floyd Howard White and Vivian Mae Lara and was raised by her grandparents, Willie Lee and Ollie Mae Lee. She graduated from Pampa High school and would eventually settle in Amarillo. Loretta married her sweetheart, Melvin Carter on January 18, 2002. She loved to sing and play the piano, and also enjoyed playing golf games on her smart phone. Loretta was an excellent cook and a devoted and loving wife. She was faithful to Jesus Christ and read her Bible with dedication; she was a prayer warrior.
Loretta was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Floyd White Jr. and Kenny Hawthorne. Survivors include her husband Melvin Carter of the home; two sisters, Cynthia Jarmon of Shiner, Texas and Pam Britt of Dallas; one brother, Robert Mitchell and his wife Victoria of Oklahoma. Survivors also include a host of nieces, nephews and extended family and close friends.
