Loretta J. Cope, 81, of Amarillo, passed away on Friday, October 25, 2024. Funeral services will be 10:00 AM Saturday, November 2, 2024, Cox-Rowley Funeral Home Chapel, 4180 Canyon Dr. Burial will be at Rose Hill Cemetery in Tulia, Texas.

Loretta was born March 20, 1943, in Hale County, Texas, to Violet Moody Bradley and Carl Bradley. She was a proud 1961 graduate of Tulia High School, where she excelled in basketball and captured hearts as Miss Halloween Queen. Loretta had three brothers, Waylan, Kenny, and Lonnie Bradley. During high school, she spent her weekdays cruising Dip Street and enjoying time with her friends at the bowling alley.

After high school she married Paul Murrell and attended beautician school where she quickly rose to the top of her class. She raised two rambunctious boys, Kyle and Kevin Murrell. She met and married Royce E. Teel in 1966 and inherited four other children. Last but not least, in 1975, they had a ray of sunshine Tanya R. Teel. In 1989, Royce and Loretta went their separate ways. In 1990, she married Wiley Cope. Throughout their journey, Wiley and Loretta were involved in many business ventures until Wiley’s passing in 1996.

Loretta was a talented beautician, a skilled bookkeeper, and a passionate Dallas Cowboys fan. She enjoyed dancing, playing pool, and tending to her yard. Her life was enriched by her two precious granddaughters, Maycie and Brook, and two beautiful great-grandchildren Hannah and Jensen. They brightened her days with their laughter and love. Throughout her life, Loretta continued to display unwavering strength and resilience, cherishing moments with family and friends. She will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her.

The family would like to extend special thanks to the staff at Jan Werner for the loving care Loretta received from them. She always looked forward to her days there.

Loretta was preceded in death by her parents; her son, Kyle Murrell; her bonus son, Bobby Teel; and a brother, Kenny Bradley.

Survivors include her daughter, Tanya Teel of Amarillo; her son, Kevin Murrell of Giddings, TX; two bonus daughters, Janeice McKinney and Cynthia Young; two brothers, Waylan Bradley and wife Susie, and Lonnie Bradley and wife Julene all of Amarillo, TX; her aunt, Phyllis Bradley; two grandchildren, Maycie Jean and Brook Murrell; and two great-grandchildren, Hannah Newsome and Jensen Newsome.
