Lorraine Bruns

April 17, 1922 — January 28, 2016

Lorraine was born April 17, 1922 in Stafford, Kansas to Olive and Everett Schmidt. She served in the medical field a big portion of her life, devoting time and care to many of her patients. Helping people and being around them brought her an enormous amount of joy and everyone loved her. She was a member of First Baptist Church. At an early age, she was taught the art of crocheting by her grandmother. Many of her family and friends are recipients of these treasured heirlooms. She learned to make jewelry at Bivins Nursing Home, sharing her treasures there as well. She loved playing games and was an avid participant at bingo and dominoes at Bivins. The family wishes to express their gratitude for the love and care shown to their mother by the staff and employees of both Bivins Nursing Home and Hospice Care of the Southwest. She is preceded in death by her parents, Olive and Everett, husbands, Willard Simpson and Lester Bruns, a granddaughter, Kimberly Alexander, two sisters, Argle Mauck and Jane Fisher and by her brother, Everett Schmidt, Jr, and by her special friend, Jewel Green. She is survived by her children, Richard Simpson and wife Marilyn of Sweeny, Carolyn Snyder and husband Jerry of Amarillo, Steven Simpson and wife Katie of Angier, NC, and Dennis Simpson of Dickson, TN; 12 grandchildren, Blake, Brett, Marc, Hallie, Brad, Megon, Jennifer, Christopher, Dustin, Dennis, Candice, and Brandi; 20 great grandchildren; 1 great great grandchild; her sister, Dorothy Wagner of Wichita, KS; special friends, Don and Troveta Drake of Amarillo, and W.D. and Jean O'Donnell of Alvarado, TX; also surviving her are several nieces, nephews and many friends.
