Loydell Tennison, 81, of Amarillo Tx., peacefully passed in the place she loved most her home on October 21, 2022. A private Memorial service will be held in Red River, NM.
Loydell was born on July 9, 1941, in Dickens County, TX to Wade L. Roberts and Louise Maree Odom. She graduated from Patton Springs High School and shortly thereafter married her lifetime sweetheart, Delbert Ray Tennison, on October 31, 1959. They were married for 58 years before Delbert passed in 2017.
Loydell worked for the Texas Department of Transportation as a Regional Manager for 34 years. In her retirement letter she stated, “One of the most difficult things in life is change that involves longtime friends.” This is certainly true of Loydell’s commitment to her family.
Loydell, affectionally known as Grams, was always there to love and support both her family and friends. Grams made it her mission to improve the lives of others. Recently a longtime friend of Loydell’s shared that Loydell “reminded her how to love when she didn’t feel like it”.
Upon her. retirement, Grams enjoyed spending time with her family and taking in the outdoors. Her tv interests spanned from the Cooking Channel to Hallmark Movies to anything with Jason Statham and Vin Diesel.
Loydell is preceded in death by her husband, Delbert.
Loydell was the most wonderful mother of two children and is survived by them, Terry Tennison, of Amarillo Tx; Denise Stamos and husband Steve of Pilot Point, Tx., one brother Larry Roberts; three grandchildren: Tara (Tennison) Young, Kristin (Stamos) Scally and husband Luke, Michael Stamos and one great-granddaughter, Gracelyn Young.
“Life is changed, not aken away”
The family would like to thank her care team at Gentiva Hospice who were so gracious and loving to her.
The family suggests memorials be to be made to the Amarillo SPCA or the American Stroke Association.
